Top Tips to Create Fantastic Scrapbook Pages

Scrapbooking is a fun and beautiful way to preserve memories forever. When you’re just starting out with scrapbooks it can be hard to know where to start and how to make your pages look picture-perfect. We’ve compiled a list of some of our top tips to create gorgeous pages. These are basic tips which should help those just getting started but are equally useful as reminders for those who have been scrapbooking for a while. Let us know in the comments if you have any tips of your own!

  1. Create a colour scheme
To make your pages look cohesive it’s really useful to have a colour scheme on each page. A good starting point is to pick a range of similar colours, e.g. pastel blues and then add pops of a contrasting colour to draw focus elsewhere on the page.

  2. Add depth to your pages
Adding depth by using 3D aspects is a fantastic way to add interest to a page. Some of the best scrapbooks are so full you can barely shut the book! Picking a ring-bound book is a good starting point if you plan on creating lots of 3D pages. Try 3D toppers, small gem stickers or simply build up one section of the page by sticking foam underneath it. Have fun playing around!

  3. Create a focal point
On most pages you will have one or perhaps two pictures that you want to draw the viewer’s attention to, i.e. the most important bits of the page! Using a frame around these pictures is a really easy way to create a focal point and make sure the viewer’s eye is drawn to it. We have a selection of free templates and frames which are available to download.

  4. Use contrasting textures
Using different textures on a page make it really tactile and appealing to the viewer and it’s surprisingly easy to do. Textures can be as simple as the smooth paper contrasted with a plush velvet ribbon and the grainy feel of a glitter sticker. Try looking around your home to see what you could add to a page to create contrasting textures, you might be surprised at what you find!
